Dreame calls this “CelesTect technology.” Although Dyson’s green laser technology is technically a stronger performer by comparison, the initial shock of just how much dust was hiding on my so-called “clean” hard floors (even if they’re not filthy) was staggering. This is one of my favorite features for deep cleaning.
One small downside: Unlike the highest-end Dreame Z50, which automatically adjusts its inlet based on floor type, you have to flick a front-mounted switch—dirtier than it sounds—on the Z20 when moving from hard floors to carpets.

The Drawbacks: Weight and Wand Length
The design is not without problems, however, despite the great performance. The vacuum weighs in at 3.3 kg (with the wand and floorhead attached)—it’s actually rather top-heavy. However, after cleaning for over 15 minutes, I felt fatigued from moving the mop around.
The other connecting wand is also not telescoping. I am about 177 cm (5’9″) tall, and the wand felt a bit on the short side. It made me have to lean over just a bit to keep adequate floor contact, which did lead to some mild lower back pain. This ergonomic quirk is something you have to consider if you’re particularly tall.

If you put it in high-powered turbo mode, throw that runtime estimate out the window—it drops to about 10 minutes. Fortunately, the dynamic Auto mode is also a sweet spot, offering just enough power exactly when needed without rapidly exhausting the battery. It takes about four hours to recharge from zero to full at the dock. The battery is also swappable, meaning you can buy a spare if your floor plan ingests parameters.
Is the Dreame Z20 Station Worth It?
When you factor in the $799.99 list price—and the fact that Dreame frequently runs sales—the value proposition here is exceptional.
Yes, the Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Lite and the Dyson Gen5detect might offer slightly higher raw suction numbers. However, they cost significantly more. Furthermore, Shark’s auto-empty models, while cheaper, simply cannot compete with the sheer power and premium build quality of the Z20.
